Acoustic Emissions – Overview

Optics11’s OptimAE is the world’s first fiber-optic Acoustic Emission (AE) sensing system, offering high sensitivity and performance in challenging environments such as strong electrical or magnetic fields, high radiation, extreme temperatures, and liquids. The system includes a modular acquisition unit, a broad sensor portfolio, and dedicated AE software, making it suitable for various applications from lab-scale to industrial large-scale solutions. The 6300-series sensors are completely passive, can withstand harsh measurement conditions, and are immune to electromagnetic interference. The OptimAE interrogator features a 1 MS/s sampling rate and can be configured for up to 32 channels.

This system overcomes the limitations of classic electrical transducers, extending the benefits of Acoustic Emission to new industries. The system features up to 32 optical channels, a sampling speed of 1 MS/s, and true simultaneous signal acquisition. It is suitable for applications like Structural Health Monitoring, Condition Monitoring, and Measurements in ATEX, extreme low/high temperatures, and radiation (EMI/nuclear) environments.
