Exploring the micro-mechanics of locally strengthened cornea by femtosecond laser crosslinking

In a recent publication Prof. Dr. Timashev and colleagues from Russia and Germany use the Optics11 Piuma instrument to investigate the micro-mechanical properties as a result from locally strengthening human cornea by femto-second 525nm laser crosslinking. Using the Piuma a mechanical map of the cornea surface is created automatically, allowing to assess the mechanical implications of the laser-induced crosslinking in the tissue.
