In seismology the objective is to study seismic events and the propagation of elastic waves through the earth surface. Although there is a variety of (electric) sophisticated seismic measurement equipment commercially available, there are some specific needs that existing equipment is not yet able to solve. Examples are when measuring in areas where GPS time synchronisation is unavailable, when metallic solutions are not allowed, or when the equipment is to be placed inside an ATEX zone.
Optics11 is offering optical fiber based seismic solutions that are intrinsically suitable for these challenging problems. Since there can be kilometres of fibers between sensors and/or readouts, it is possible to measure seismic events deep inside mines, while the timing accuracy is maintained outside the mine where GPS is available.
