New interferometric fiber sensing platforms with very high sensitivity and bandwidth

Optics11 has developed two new remote sensing technologies, both based on optical fiber interferometry. These technologies capture the advantages of optical fiber sensing and outperform other systems in terms of sensitivity, measurement bandwidth, dimensions and cost effectiveness.

The platform

Our remote sensing platforms are all based on interferometry, which means measuring the phase of the light; by tracking this phase over multiple fringes a large dynamic range is achieved. The signals are digitally acquired and can be stored and analysed using (LabView based) software on a PC.


The fiber sensors we provide are all-optical and fully passive; no electrical components are involved. The main material used in the sensors is glass, enriched with silicon or adhesives if required. Therefore the sensors can be applied in very harsh environments such as in extreme high or low temperatures, liquid environments or in the presence of strong electrical and/or magnetic fields.
